Lesson 1 The Alphabeth Now I will begin my little Danish course. Are you ready. The only thing needed from you is to be serious and a bit of motivation. First I will tell you a little bit about Danish in general. It is a very easy language. Ok, that is maybe not possible for you to believe right now, but the way the language is constructed is easy. There are only half the amount of words in Danish than i English so in that way you are very fortunate. Danish is furthermore very close related to English because it is developed from the same language tribe. The pronounciation of Danish is therefore the biggest problem and that is why I'm going to reteach you the Alphabet. The Danish alphabet looks like this: (Hehe like you didn't know but anyway) a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v x y z æ ø å I see two differences from the English alphabet: There are 3 more vowels. There is no w (you will see later that in fact there is no dansih words with w. We use it only for foreign words like the very danish word "week-end" Introduction 1 The meaning of the words is not important right now but understanding what you are saying makes the task more pleasant. Here is two letters s pronounced as s in English i pronounced as the "ee" in see, but only half as long when you say it We can now form a word: si (sieve, strainer) To make this kind of i sound you have to cut the airstream. If you can knock 2 times in the table when you say "see" you may only knock once when you say "si" Here is another word: is (ice, icecream) the "i"-sound is exactly the same as in si, meaning that you actually have to cut the airstream before saying "s" Last word today: i (in) Should be said even a little shorter. OK, this is it for today. Try to say each word aloud untill you feel you get it right If you get this right it is easy for you to learn more
